Please follow these steps to setup DigiLink Nano on a Windows 10 computer.
First, connect DigiLink Nano to a USB port on your computer with the supplied USB cable. Windows should display a notification that a new device was found.
Please open the Sound settings now and you should see a device called USB Audio CODEC on the Playback tab.
Double click the device to open the properties window. You can rename the device on the General tab if you like to identify it more easily in the digital mode applications later (to e.g. DigiLink Nano as in the example on the right).
Click on the Levels tab and set the Speakers volume to 100, you can adjust both your radio's input and settings in your digital mode software to a suitable level for a clean transmission.
Next, click the Balance button and center your signal.
Then mute the Microphone (press the mute button and set the level to 0).
IMPORTANT: this is not the input that comes from your radio but an chip-internal loopback that feeds the signal from the actual input back to the output. If this is not muted, your output signal might get distorted leading to a bad signal transmitted.
Change to the Enhancement tab and disable all enhancements.
On the Advanced tab, set the sound quality to 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
To conclude the speaker settings, go to the Spacial sound tab and switch off Spatial sound format.
Click OK to store all modifications and return to the Sound setting window.
In the Sound setting window, click on the Recording tab. You should see a new input device called USB Audio CODEC. Double click this entry.
You can rename the device on the General tab if you like to identify it more easily in the digital mode applications later (to e.g. DigiLink Nano as in the example on the right).
Please switch to the Listen tab and disable the option Listen to this device and enable running this device on battery power.
On the Levels tab, you can change input sensitivity. To avoid noise being picked up, it is recommended to keep this around 30% while keeping your radio AF output level around 30% too, if you can modify it. Increasing this sensitivity will also increase the level of noise picked up by the cable and other parts of the system.
On the Advanced tab, set default format to 1 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
Make sure to disable exclusive access to this device by applications.
You are now done with the Windows setup and can start to use DigiLink Nano in your digital mode applications.
